Any construction vehicle lovers out there? My youngest son is OBSESSED so when I saw this picture book, I knew I had to put it on my list. It is a quick, easy read with repetition like “Dump Truck is carrying…carrying…carrying garland.
Digger Truck is stringing…stringing…stringing lights.”

Bulldozer doesn’t have any presents for his friends and his worrying, worrying, worrying… What will he do?

Pete the Elf loves a good sensory bin! (or I do ;) So for December 3rd, Pete created a Snowy Wonderland Construction Site for the kiddos! This was a fun one to make and I’m SO excited to see my kid’s faces when they find Pete and this sensory bin. So this is what it will look like when they find our Elf…

Here he is! This is your friendly reminder to keep your Elf high and away from “accidental touching/grabbing” or especially if you have kids the ages where they FIRMLY believe that if we touch our elf, his magic will go away. It will be interesting this year with two 2-year-olds… I may have to get REAL creative if one of them grabs him… but that’s a problem for another day.

We place our sensory bin in our entry way. It’s a bit of an open space and hard wood floors so easy clean up :)

Simple note that could go with Elf if you like the daily notes:

“Who likes construction vehicles?! Have fun at this Christmas Construction Site I set up for you! Don’t make too much of a mess… :)'

Love, Pete!”

So what’s all in here?

The big stuff:

-The bin. I use a long flat one, because I most likely have 2-3 kids in mine at a time, so something like this storage bin.

First, lay down some Fake snow.

Next, toy construction vehicles. Any will work! But I just found these for 50% off right now! Great deal for 6 vehicles!

To make it look more “Christmassy,” I added a few more things:

That’s about it! I added some shovels and funnels because those are usually always in our sensory bins. Oh, and some snowflake stickers!

Really, any “extra” Christmas decorations you have can go in. I hope your kids have a blast with it!

Steps for Day 3:

  1. Fill sensory bin with goodies mentioned above. This is where your creativity can shine by using things you already have or things you can find outside!

  2. Place Elf around sensory bin but out of reach with book Bulldozer's Christmas Dig.

  3. Read the book together!

  4. Let children enjoy sensory bin. Will it get messy? Most likely, but for me, I don’t mind the mess if it means they play independently for awhile. You will probably use the phrase “keep it in the bin” 100 times, but it’s worth it :)

  5. Complete free printables below!

Just a fun, quick coloring sheet for this one!

Copy and paste into a word doc or download the coloring sheet here.

This is one for the older kiddos. But, I made it easy enough that they just copy the words as it repeats just like in the book! Answers…

1. carrying 2. stringing 3. lifting 4. worrying.

MERRY CHRISTMAS ;)

I hope your construction vehicle-loving kiddos enjoyed Bulldozer's Christmas Dig (35% off right now!), the sensory bin and the printables!

I’m super excited for Day 4 with a very famous Pigeon…

That’s right! Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Sleigh by Mo Willems (37% off right now!) is up next!! If you’re kiddos love the Pigeon books, don’t pass on this one!
