Day 12: How to Catch a Reindeer

Day 12 is here with How to Catch a Reindeer by Alice Walstead (Author), Andy Elkerton (Illustrator).

It’s Christmas Eve and Comet decides to go off exploring! Now the kids have the perfect opportunity to trap her to prove Santa exists! A Christmas adventure indeed!

So where will our silly elf be?

Just hanging around with some reindeer antlers :)

Below him is his note, reindeer food ingredients and our book, How to Catch a Reindeer.

The note reads:

Have you ever caught a reindeer?! I brought you a book to teach you how! Here’s some reindeer food ingredients as well! Maybe you can use it in your trap on Christmas Eve…Have fun and good luck!

Simple reindeer food ingredients: Oats + Christmas sprinkles!

Steps for Day 12:

  1. Hide elf with or without some kind of reindeer toy/costume. Have oats, sprinkles, book and note close by.

  2. Read How to Catch a Reindeer (or watch on Youtube)

  3. Make reindeer food: Special Santa’s Reindeer Food recipe:

    1 cup oats

     ½ cup sprinkles (Christmas colors are their favorite)

    ¼ cup mini marshmallows

    Mix together in a bowl. 

    On Christmas Eve night, leave out next to Santa’s milk and cookies!


    and start plotting… ask child “How would you catch a reindeer?”
